I bought 3 fire bellied newts about 2 weeks ago. A few days ago, I found my newts' skin peeling off. As far as I know, only reptiles shed their skin. Is this normal?

Newts do shed their skin. Usually it looks sort of like they are taking off an overall, starting at the head, then down the body. Sometimes they eat the skin afterwards.

Welcome to the forum, both of you.
Swan is correct. Amphibians including salamanders ans anurans(frogs and toads), shed their skin like reptiles to grow. Unless the shedding is frequent, as in every few days, then something is wrong. Frequnt shedding indicates, wrong water parameters, skin disease or presence of parasites. And like swan saud, its normal if they consume the skin, which is done to regain nutrients.

Thanks for the advice people, other newts ate the shedded skin while one end was still attached to the newt. Newts are really cute!

Another sign of illness is when the skin is shed in patches.
