Just a simple question, I'm probably a idiot. Izzit alright to keep newts with frogs and toads? I don't have much place to separate them so I thought I should drop by a pet shop and get a fire bellied toad.

Newtgeek. It is good to hear that you are not going to mix. So many people ask this question on caudata web sites, do not like the answers given, then go ahead and mix anyway, because the people in the pet shop say its safe. I think by now that most people realise that what pet shop workers Know about amphibian care can be written on the back of a postage stamp. It is true that a mixed set up containing many species would look good, but it would certainly not be good for the inhabitants.

I've seen fire-bellied newts mixed with fire-bellied toads and water dwarf frogs but I've never seen nor do I know whether fire salamanders will co-exist with fire newts does anyone know whether they will. I suppose if their size was about equal they might? please help draculawolfen

The only way to keep them together is to introduce them both as morphs as with frogs and then they will stay about the same size...otherwise no...And i wouldnt do that anyways...too risky
